My Thoughts on Drake Dropping Future

futureFriends, I wanted to chime in on the Drake/ Future alleged (stress on alleged) saga.

Real quick, lets recap: Future is a part of the opening act for Drake’s upcoming “Would You Like a Tour.” In a Billboard interview, Future compared his upcoming Honest album to Drake’s NWTS. “Honest isn’t only about love, but ‘about showing emotion.  Drake made an album that is full of hits but it doesn’t grab you. They’re not possessive; they don’t make you feel the way I do. I want to make you want to fall in love.”

Later Future maintained that he was misquoted. However, it appears the damage was done by that point.

In response to Drake at one point releasing Future from the tour, I see lots of feedback referring to Drake as lame or showing his feminine side.

I’ve been in Corporate America all my professional life.  Obviously I’m making strides to depart one day (I just digressed there), but that’s been my background.

Help me understand in what professional setting it’s acceptable to discredit or take a jab at your employer and believe that you have the right to still peacefully work there?

Still thinking….I’ll wait….

If that doesn’t hit home for you, how about this:   You never bite the hand that feeds you.  And unfortunately no matter how hot Future thinks he is, the fact of the matter is he is T-Pain 2.0.  He truly got beside himself with that slick talk.  Now could he switch it up on us and one day turn out great music?  Yep. But right now, he’s not doing anything remotely destined for a long-term career. His music – in my opinion – is trendy, not classic.

Music is fun and makes folk happy, but this is a tour.  There are lots of people and logistics occurring that are far bigger than just stepping in a booth and dropping a couple of bars.

I applaud Drake for stopping the foolery in its tracks.  Would I have dropped him?  IDK.  Depends on what all was said behind closed doors.

But I do know this…. If I thought for a second antics like this would continue to occur he would be out like yesterday’s news. If I’m headlining a tour, there’s no way I have time for a bad version of T-Pain to make trouble.  No matter how much you like Future, you have to admit that just by going on this tour Drake’s giving him a great break.  To in any way take a jab at Drake is disrespectful.  I’m sure another up-and-coming artist would GLADLY take Future’s place.

It is, what it is.
