Is Lauren Conrad Bringing Gold Back to Engagement Rings?

lauren.ohsodjLooks like “All Gold Everything” is really back in style.

Remember Lauren Conrad from MTV’s The Hills and Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County? (I’ll give you a crash course in Lauren in a second ….)

Well Lauren is now engaged. The reality star turned fashionista and author is engaged to boyfriend William Tell, she confirmed on her blog site. William is a USC law student. The two dated for nearly two years before the recent engagement.

“William and I are overwhelmed by all of your warm wishes,” she wrote. “Thank you so much for sharing in this special moment.”

If you notice in the pic, Lauren is rocking a classic, four-prong solitaire diamond that’s set on a thick, solid gold-appearing band. According to expert jeweler Shari Fabrikant of Robert Fabrikant Inc. in NYC, “Lauren’s ring appears to be a 3 carat round diamond… it were a G color VS2 in quality, it would cost approximately $50,000.”

That ring is very Lauren. All we’ve seen in recent years is the steel, cool look of platinum (and white gold if you’re on a budget). It kinda makes this gold bold seem warm and romantic. I like it. It’s VERY DJ. Simple and elegant.

So here’s the crash course in Lauren. Lauren, or L.C. as some affectionately call her, attended Laguna Beach High School. In September 2004, she became a household name among teens when she was cast in the reality television series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which documented the lives of her and her friends (Not sure how authentic it was. Some of the cast members have hinted that series staff planted seeds of drama).

L.C. was the breakout start that everyone liked so she was rewarded with her own spin-off series The Hills. The Hills introduced Heidi Montag and Whitney Port (who later received her own show) and chronicled the personal and now professional lives of her and friends. During its production, L.C. attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and held positions with Teen Vogue and Kelly Cutrone’s PR firm People’s Revolution.

In May 2009, Conrad left The Hills after five seasons. She launched the fashion lines “LC Lauren Conrad” and “Paper Crown” in 2009 and 2011, respectively. She released the L.A. Candy book trilogy in 2010 and the spin-off The Fame Game series in 2012. And just to put things into perspective, in 2010, Conrad was named the second highest-paid reality television personality, ranking behind Kim Kardashian.

Can you tell I’m a L.C. fan?
