dr-dre-compton-soundtrack-coverDr. Dre’s first album in nearly 16 years, Compton, debuts at No. 2.

Featuring Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Game, Snoop Dogg, Marsha Ambrosius and more, Compton comes No. 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 album charts. Finishing second to country star Luke Bryan’s Kill the Lights album, Compton sold 295,000 with streams (276,000 are pure album sales) according to Nielsen Music.

Inspired by the N.W.A. biopic ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ which opened No. 1 at the box office with $56 million, the album was exclusively available for purchase through iTunes and streaming through the Apple Music. The project will be available at various other retailers beginning this Friday.

Compton also took top spot on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, the third time Dr. Dre has achieved that status.
