Wale is giving back to his hometown of DC with his newest social activist partnership with Reach Higher Initiative.
Hosted by the First Lady, Michelle Obama, the event is a part of the 2015 Beating the Odds Summit that will take place this Thursday (July 23) and host over 130 college-bound students in the nation’s capital. For his part, Wale will and later hold a spot on an E! News panel with Mrs. Obama, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and co-founder of college student network 1vyG, Manuel Contreras.
The summit will also give students the opportunity to join in on educational workshops and other panels led by organizations such as the U.S. Department of Education and Jaime Casp of Google.
According to its website, Reach Higher is another effort to improve America’s educational objectives. It is centered around President Obama’s “North Star” goal, which aims for the country to see the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020.
