Kanye West Responds to Billboard Censorship

Kanye_BBMAI was waiting on this to come. Kanye West has finally issued a statement on the recent censorship during his Billboard Music Award performance.

In case you missed his performance May 17, you missed …. nothing. To home viewers, his most of the sound was missing from his performance. He released a statement Tuesday (May 19) via his publicist apologizing to fans who weren’t able to enjoy the show as intended, and said he was “grossly over-censored.”

The statement goes as follows:

“Non-profane lyrics such as ‘with my leather black jeans on’ were muted for over 30 second intervals. As a result, his voice and performance were seriously misrepresented. It is ridiculous that in 2015, unwarranted censorship is something that artists still have to fight against,” the statement reads.”

“Although West was clearly set up to face elements beyond his control during the live broadcast, he would like to apologize to the television audience who were unable to enjoy the performance the way he envisioned.”
