It’s not a game in the TIDAL camp.
It’s no secret that Tidal has taken a PR beating in the press from fans and artists alike. So much so that Hov himself took to Twitter to defend the site. While that seemed to do little to change public opinion, a new development could cast his latest venture in a more positive light.
According to what appears to be an earnings report leaked by an anonymous independent record label to Digital Music News, Tidal’s payments per stream were, on average, more than one-and-a-half times those paid out by Spotify. The numbers themselves–1.2 cents vs. .72 cents–seem minuscule, but at a great enough volume, could mean tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of difference.
So TIDAL is for the record labels and for the artists. Now we need fans to get on board.
