Almost eight years after graduating Summa cum laude from St John’s University, J. Cole finally has the documentation to prove it.
During a homecoming concert at his alma mater on Thursday (Apr. 9) he was presented with his degree former professor.
Despite completing his collegiate career with a 3.82 GPA, a library book kept Cole from being able to fully commemorate his accomplishment.
“I owed money for a library book that I didn’t turn in,” he told The Village Voice.
“If you have any outstanding fee, that translates to money. There’s a price associated with it. I never paid. That’s why I don’t have my degree.”
As for his plans for the degree, Cole plans on letting a special person relish the moment.
“Tonight, I guess they let me slide,” he said. “I’m gonna send it to my Mom.”
My two-cents: Always good to see positive stories about education …
